Teacher Training Programs and Deployments
Over the last six months, OLE Nepal’s training and technical team has conducted 13 teacher training programs in partnership with different organisations. Altogether, teachers from over 60 schools have been trained to use technology integrated learning approach in their daily teaching.
In the second half of 2018, OLE Nepal’s technical team prepared over 330 Raspberry Pi computers, and 323 XO laptops (E-Paati) for 39 new schools. These training programs and deployments have gone on to benefit over 20,000 students in public schools across 12 districts. Some of the projects included deployments to very remote schools.
Three new schools in Lalitpur Metropolitan Area, in partnership with KDDI and CITYNET
In partnership with KDDI Foundation, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, and CITYNET, OLE Nepal has established Raspberry Pi computer labs with digital library (E-Pustakalaya) in 3 new schools in Lalitpur. Jalapa School in Dhapakhel, Hindu Vidyapeeth School in Balkumari, and Yashodha Bauddha School in Thaina. A total of 62 fully functioning Raspberry Pi computers have been deployed to the schools.
Students of these three schools now have fast access to thousands of books and videos, as well as E-Paath for Grades 1-8. The training program was held at the respective schools in Lalitpur. The training was held from July 30- Aug 3, 2018 for a total of 58 teachers.
Six new schools in Sarlahi and Rautahat districts, in partnership with World Education Nepal.
In partnership with World Education Nepal, OLE Nepal prepared 120 Raspberry Pi computers (20 computers per school) and 6 library servers for 6 new schools in Sarlahi and Rautahat. OLE’s technical and training team conducted a 3-day teacher training program on September 26-28, 2018 at Patan, Lalitpur. Two teachers from each school and representatives from WEI’s partner NGOs attended the training program. The schools where Raspberry Pi computer labs have been set up in Rautahat are Shree Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, Brahampuri; Shree Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, Bagahi; and Shree Sankar Secondary School, Sarmujawa. Similarly, the schools in Sarlahi the labs have been set up are Ram Janaki Secondary School, Basantapur; Shree Balgovinda Higher Secondary School, Pipariya; and Shree Keshwar Garib H.S. School, Haripurwa.
One new school in Devgir, Palpa in partnership with Peace Corps volunteer
OLE Nepal’s training team conducted a three days training on E-Pustakalaya digital library and Raspberry-Pi computers on August 10-12, 2018 at Ratna Secondary School, Devgir, Palpa. The training program was carried out in partnership with the Peace Corps volunteer, Ms. Monica Gangwar. A total of 14 teachers from the school and a program intern participated in the teacher training program.
One new school in Helambu, Sindhupalchok, in partnership with Kids of Kathmandu
OLE Nepal’s training team conducted a three days training on E-Pustakalaya digital library and Raspberry-Pi computers on September 14-16, 2018 at East Point Academy, Helambu-4, Sindhupalchok. The training program was carried out in partnership with Kids of Kathmandu. A total of 17 teachers from the school participated in the teacher training program. The school has a total of 25 fully loaded Raspberry Pi computers in their lab, that are being used by 482 students in a shared model.

Smart Classroom Training in Kaski and Parbat districts, in partnership with Good Neighbors International Nepal
OLE Nepal completed ICT integrated teacher training in Kaski and Parbat. The program was conducted from November 18 – 25, 2018 for 12 schools of Parbat district in Kusma, and 13 schools of Kaski district in Pokhara. Our team conducted two training sessions in each district, with 25 participants in each session. Altogether 100 teachers were trained in Parbat and Kaski.
The training focused on child-centered integrated teaching-learning approach with the use of interactive digital learning content (E-Paath) and digital library (E-Pustakalaya), as well as the technical aspects of the program.
The training program was conducted in partnership with Good Neighbors International (GNI) Nepal.
Three new schools in Tandrang, Gorkha, in partnership with Children of The Mountain
OLE Nepal’s team has successfully deployed E-Paati (XO) laptops to 3 new schools in Tandrang, Gorkha (Sanskrit Secondary School, Navjyoti Secondary School and Siddhakali Secondary School). A total of 45 fully-loaded laptops (15 at each school) were deployed after the teacher training program that was held on November 18-24, 2018.
Our training team completed a seven-day intensive teacher training program for the 13 teachers of 3 schools as part of the laptop program in Tandrang. The students in these three schools now have access to curriculum-based interactive learning content (E-Paath) on laptops. They can also browse through thousands of books, learning software and educational videos on the digital library (E-Pustakalaya). Our training and technical team will revisit these schools for the in-school training program in 2019.
The laptop program for these three schools in Tandrang, Gorkha is supported by Children of the Mountain (CoTM).

One new school in Phillim, Gorkha, in partnership with Rotary Club of Lalitpur Mid-town and Rotary Club of Plympton, United Kingdom.
OLE Nepal has recently conducted training on ICT-integrated teaching-learning at Shree Buddha Secondary School located in Philim Valley in Gorkha district of Gandaki Zone. The project was launched with support from the Rotary Club of Lalitpur Midtown and Rotary Club of Plympton, United Kingdom. The training program was conducted from December 5-10, 2018.
With help from the teachers, our technical team set up 35 XO laptops and 30 RPi computers in the schools computer labs. This is the first time that our team has deployed XO laptops and R Pi devices in the same school at the same time.
The training started with the introduction to E-Paati laptops (XOs), followed by introduction to E-Paath, the curriculum-based interactive digital learning materials. After a few sessions of hands-on practice on the laptops and digital content, most teachers were able to easily navigate through various grade and subject specific digital activities by the third day. They were also able to access and use other learning games on the laptops. On the fourth day, the teachers were introduced to the Raspberry Pi (RPi) devices, including demonstration on how to assemble and set up RPi devices. Teachers then learned to do the same through hands-on practice.
A total of 20 teachers from seven schools in and around the Chumnubri Rural Municipality participated in the training program.
Six new schools in Sarlahi and Rautahat in partnership with World Education Nepal.
OLE Nepal’s training and technical team conducted a three-day teacher training program on the ‘Use of ICT in teaching learning’. The participants were trained on integrated approach to teaching learning in the classrooms with the use of OLE Nepal’s E-Pustakalaya and E-Paath, as well as the technical aspects of the program.
Participants included 9 teachers from 3 project schools (3 from each school). Following the training, all 3 schools (2 in Dhanusha, and 1 in Mahottari district) will be equipped with 20 Raspberry Pi computers and an offline digital library server.
The event was jointly organised by Community Family Welfare Association(CFWA), Dhanusha and Social Development Center (Samaj Bikash Kendra), Mahottari, in partnership with World Education Nepal. Project staff from the organizers also participated in the training. Altogether, there were 19 participants in the training program.
E-Pustakalaya Training at Byas Rural Municipality in Darchula
OLE Nepal’s trainers conducted E-Paath and E-Pustakalaya teacher training at Darchula’s Byas Rural Municipality from December 12-14, 2018. Altogether there were 22 participants, including 15 teachers from 5 schools, and IT officer of the rural municipality. The training was held at Basantapur Secondary School. Participants included 3 teachers from each of the following schools from Byas Rural Municipality: Shir Sindhaar Secondary School, Sarbaheet Aadharbhut School, Durga Isthan Secondary School, Himalaya Secondary School, and Basantapur Secondary School.
The 3-day teacher training program and the E-Pustakalaya offline digital library server at each of the 5 schools were funded by Byas Rural Municipality.
One new school in Nuwakot, in partnership with All Hands and Hearts
OLE Nepal has conducted training on ICT-integrated teaching-learning at Shree Bachchhala Devi Secondary School located in Bidur Municipality in Nuwakot district. The training program was conducted in partnership with All Hands and Hearts. The training program was conducted from December 24-27, 2018. All 15 teachers from the school participated in the training program.
After the devastating earthquake of April 2015, All Hands and Hearts had helped in the reconstruction of the school building.
