Surveying potential schools for Phase III program in Bajhang
February 23, 2015 | Bajhang
OLE Nepal in partnership with District Education Office of Bajhang and UN World Food Program (WFP) has been implementing its laptop program in the schools of Bajhang since early 2014. This program aims to provide access to quality education for students through the integration of digital learning resources for the students.
As part of program expansion, OLE Nepal team of six recently conducted the school survey for Phase III of the Laptop Program in Bajhang. The team surveyed the schools located in different VDCs, such as, Deulikot, Sunkuda, Rayal, Khiratadi, Banjh, Kafalseri, Pipalkot, Dhamena, Bhatekhola, Melbesauna, Datola and Dangaji between February 23 to March 8, 2015. Altogether, thirty-eight schools which are the part of School Meal Program run by WFP in partnership with Ministry of Education, were surveyed. Each school was required to fill out a detailed survey questionnaire on how the school planned to sustain the laptop program beyond the initial few years, what steps they plan to take to ensure success of the program, and how they thought the program would benefit their students.
Among the surveyed schools, twenty schools will soon be finalised in cooperation with District Education Office of Bajhang. Along with the above mentioned components, commitment of schools towards child-friendly learning opportunities was also equally important. It was also important for the schools to have basic infrastructure to carry forward the program with same determination and dedication as well as to have strong community support.
OLE Nepal has already implemented the Laptop Program in twenty-three schools in Bajhang.
